Purusottam Swain, a 26-year-old Pattachitra artist from Raghurajpur, the renowned heritage village of Pattachitra artists, has been practicing this traditional art form since he was in the 4th standard, learning from his father, who was also a skilled Pattachitra artist. Purusottam's exceptional talent has garnered global recognition, with patrons from around the world seeking his coveted artwork. He has been honored with a certificate of appreciation from the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath and has participated in prestigious events like the Bharat Lok Parv.

Originating from the Sanskrit words "patta" (canvas) and "chitra" (picture), Pattachitra is a form of painting on canvas. Rooted in Odisha, Pattachitra is characterized by its vibrant colors, intricate motifs, and depiction of simple yet profound themes, often centered around mythology. The essence of Pattachitra lies in its thematic richness, conveying deeper meanings through its paintings.
